Suffolk-based cleanroom construction specialists Guardtech have announced a £1,000 (approximately €1,175) shirt sponsorship of a charity football match taking place at Harborough Town FC's Beehive Stadium on 4 July, as reported by the Cambridge Network, directing funds to two charitable causes operating in the children's health and community sectors.

The event, the Be More Fab Children's Cancer Charity vs Squires Effect Charity Football Match, will take place with kick-off scheduled for 3pm, with all proceeds from the day shared between the two charities.

The sponsorship is part of Guardtech's wider Charity Champions initiative, through which the company has supported a number of regional and national causes over the past 12 months, including Sarcoma UK, the Motor Neurone Disease Association, Bay Hospitals Charity and Movember.

Mark Wheeler, managing director of Guardtech, said the decision to sponsor the event reflected the company's values as a family-focused business. "Guardtech is ultimately a family business at heart and supporting causes that make a real difference to people is incredibly important to us," he said. "We've supported a range of amazing charities over the past year through our Charity Champions initiative and when the opportunity came up to support this event, it felt like a fantastic fit for the business. Be More Fab Children's Cancer Charity and Squires Effect are both doing brilliant work and we're proud to play a small part in helping raise awareness and funds for them through what promises to be a fantastic community event."

A number of Guardtech employees will also participate in the football match itself alongside other players from both charity teams.

The event will feature food and drink stalls, raffles, auctions, face painting, a bouncy castle, music and family entertainment throughout the day, with organisers hoping the occasion will generate vital fundraising income while also bringing together local businesses and communities.

Guardtech operates across six divisions, providing cleanroom design and build solutions as well as a range of cleanroom-related products and services, and has established charitable and community engagement as a recurring component of its business activity through the Charity Champions framework.

The Market Harborough event reflects a pattern increasingly visible among specialist construction and engineering businesses, using targeted charitable sponsorship to build community presence and demonstrate a values-led approach alongside their core commercial operations.
